There’s Always Going to Be Another Mountain: Overcoming Challenges in Marriage

My husband and I have climbed three mountains together—literally and metaphorically. Every time we reached the top, another one stood in front of us. Because that’s life. That’s marriage. There’s always another mountain.

And you have two choices: 1️⃣ You climb. Step by step, through the exhaustion, the setbacks, the doubts—you keep moving forward.
2️⃣ You speak to it. As a follower of Jesus, you have the power to tell that mountain to dissolve in Jesus' name.

Because the enemy of our souls hates marriage. It was God’s idea. It reflects His covenant, His love, His power. So of course, the enemy wants to distort it, break it, make you feel like it’s too hard, too far gone, too painful to keep climbing.

But here’s what I’ve learned… every mountain we’ve climbed has made us stronger.
💪 More resilient.
💪 More in love.
💪 More refined.

Because when you stay in the pocket—when you refuse to quit, when you dig deep, when you trust God to equip you for the climb—you don’t just reach the top. You become unshakable.

Faith Moves Mountains

Jesus said in Matthew 17:20, “…if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

There will always be obstacles in marriage—seasons of difficulty, moments of miscommunication, wounds that need healing. But you don’t have to climb every mountain alone. Sometimes, all it takes is declaring God’s power over your marriage and trusting Him to move what seems immovable.

Your Marriage is Worth the Climb

If you’re staring at a mountain in your marriage right now, don’t run. Don’t quit. Either start climbing, or speak to it and watch God move.
