What Good Friday Really Means for Women Called to Carry Something Greater

I have this wooden cross a friend made for one of my retreats. It’s rugged. Hand-carved. Not polished or shiny. And every time I see it, I’m reminded of something we don't talk about enough in Christian circles anymore:

The cross wasn’t comfortable.

It was bloody.
It was heavy.
It was betrayal. Pain. Humiliation.
It was surrender in the face of absolute agony.

And yet—we call it Good Friday.

Not because it looked good.
Not because it felt good.
But because it led to something greater.

And somewhere along the way, we’ve been tempted to believe that we can get to the promise without the process. That we can claim the calling without carrying the cross.

The Cross Isn't Optional—It's Required

“Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Me.” — Luke 9:23

That wasn’t a metaphor.
That was a model.

To follow Jesus is to carry something.
And not just on Easter weekend—but every single day.

You can’t skip the growth.
You can’t bypass the breaking.
You don’t get to avoid the stretching, the wilderness, or the mountain.
Because all of it—all of it—is part of your resurrection story.

What Carrying Your Cross Really Looks Like

It’s not just about suffering.
It’s about stewardship.

Carrying your cross looks like:

  • Staying obedient when it would be easier to retreat

  • Saying “yes” when no one else understands your assignment

  • Walking away from comfort to step into calling

  • Forgiving when it would feel better to hold on to bitterness

  • Choosing holiness over hustle

  • Trusting God’s timing over your own

The cross presses you. It stretches you. It feels like dying sometimes.

But after the crushing comes the anointing.
After the dying comes the rising.

You Might Be Closer to Sunday Than You Think

Some of you are carrying something so heavy right now.

The vision feels delayed.
The relationships have shifted.
The business is being rebuilt.
The fire is flickering.

And the enemy wants to douse your flame with guilt.

“You’re too much.”
“You’ve left people behind.”
“You’re dreaming too big.”
“Who do you think you are?”

But here’s what I know:
You are a daughter of the King.
And you weren’t created to carry your cross in shame—you were created to carry it in victory.

That dream in your spirit? It came from Him.
The one about the house, the women, the tithe checks, the ministry, the mission?
It wasn’t ego—it was encoded in your spirit before you were born.

Bold Faith Requires Bold Asking

Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence…”
John 15 says, “Ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

You don’t ask like a beggar—you ask like a daughter seated in righteousness.

So today, ask for the whole thing.

Ask for the house.
Ask for the team.
Ask for the healing.
Ask for the strategy.
Ask for the wisdom, wealth, clarity, and Kingdom connections.

Because you were never meant to carry your cross alone—
and you were never meant to carry it in vain.

Let the Cross Do Its Work

So on this Good Friday, I won’t run from the weight.
I’ll carry it.
Not because I like the pressure—but because I trust the process.
Not because I enjoy the breaking—but because I know what comes after it.

You might be closer to your Sunday than you think.

So keep walking.
Keep pressing.
Keep asking—boldly, like a daughter.

Because resurrection is coming.
